Rangers Squad

No data for selected season

Although commonly known as Glasgow Rangers outside of Scotland, it is the fourth-oldest football club in Scotland. Established in March 1872 by four teenagers at West End Park (now Kelvingrove Park), the club played its first match against Callander at the Fleshers' Haugh area of Glasgow Green in May of the same year. Their home ground, Ibrox Stadium, designed by architect Archibald Leitch and opened in 1929, is a Category B listed building and the third-largest football stadium in Scotland. Rangers have consistently sported royal blue shirts. The club boasts an impressive record of 55 Scottish League titles, 34 Scottish Cup victories, and 28 Scottish League Cup wins, as well as domestic trebles on seven occasions. Noteworthy international achievements include winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1972 and reaching the finals of prestigious UEFA competitions. Rangers share a historic rivalry with Celtic, collectively known as the Old Firm, renowned as one of football's greatest derbies. The club commands a vast global fanbase, with over 600 supporters' clubs in 35 countries and a reputation for setting attendance records both at home and abroad. Originally one of the founding members of the Scottish Football League, Rangers faced financial challenges in 2011–12 which led to administration and a restructuring of the organization. Despite this setback, the club quickly climbed back up through the league ranks, earning promotions and ultimately returning to the Scottish Premiership in 2016. Throughout their history, Rangers have been the only Scottish team to secure victory in every domestic competition. In the 2020–21 season, Rangers clinched the Scottish Premiership title, their first in a decade and a record-breaking fifty-fifth league win, thwarting Celtic's bid for a tenth consecutive championship.
