The team's current home ground is Nordre Åsen, having moved from Bislett after the 2012 season. Over the years, Skeid has built a reputation as a talent hub for Norwegian football, nurturing players like Daniel Braaten, Daniel Fredheim Holm, Omar Elabdellaoui, and Mohammed Abdellaoue, who have gone on to represent the national team. Noteworthy figures like Paul Miller have also graced the club's ranks.
Skeid's journey includes a stint in the 1. divisjon in 2009 following a brief period in the 2. divisjon. Despite capturing the Second Group title in the 2. divisjon in 2008, the team experienced relegation back to the lower division in the 16th spot at the conclusion of the 2009 season, despite a strong start. In a more recent development, Skeid clinched victory in the 2. divisjon group 1 in 2021, earning a promotion back to the 1. divisjon.
In an interesting turn of events, it was revealed in 2021 that Skeid would receive a substantial inheritance from the late Leif Hagen, also known as "Porno-Hagen." A devoted Skeid supporter from Sagene in Oslo, Hagen passed away in late 2020, leaving behind a sizeable estate for the club to inherit. Speculation suggested the inheritance could amount to around NOK 30 million. Skeid made the decision to utilize Hagen's contribution as a long-term investment fund, focusing on using only the returns to enhance the club and its amenities.
Notably, Skeid has a rich history in Norwegian football, with appearances in the top flight between 1938–1970, 1972–1975, 1978–1980, and 1996–1997, culminating in their most recent venture in the pinnacle division during the 1999 Tippeligaen season.
