Established in 2004, the club was among the original eight teams in the inaugural 2005–06 A-League season. Sydney FC holds the title of being the most popular and successful professional soccer club in Australia. They have secured five A-League Men Championships, four A-League Men Premierships, two Australia Cup titles, and one OFC Champions League title. The team has also participated in the AFC Champions League seven times, reaching the Round of 16 in 2016. Notably, from 2016 to 2020, coaches Graham Arnold and Steve Corica led the club to three Championships, three Premierships, and an Australia Cup victory. Formerly playing at Allianz Stadium in Moore Park, the club temporarily relocated due to renovations before returning to the rebuilt Allianz Stadium in October 2022. The team currently trains at the Sky Park facility in North Ryde, completed in 2023. As the sole A-League team in Sydney for the first seven years of its existence, Sydney FC boasts a fan base spanning the Sydney Metropolitan Area. The main supporter group, 'The Cove,' is named after the original settlement of Sydney, Sydney Cove. The club maintains rivalries with Melbourne Victory (The Big Blue) and Western Sydney Wanderers (The Sydney Derby). Alex Brosque holds the record for most goals scored (83), while Rhyan Grant has the most appearances with 327 games played.
